Assistant Professor in Gastroenterology at the University of Milan.
Director of the Gastroenterology Unit at Policlinico San Donato Research Hospital and Member of the School of Specialization in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy' Secretariat.
Dr Pastorelli's main field of expertise are Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD), as his group currently follows a cohort of more than 800 IBD patients; he is also an all-round clinical gastroenterologist and experienced endoscopist, having performed over 7000 digestive endoscopies, and, among those, more than 400 urgent and/or operative procedures.
He also spent more than 2 years (December 2007-May 2010) working as a Research Associate at University of Virginia (Charlottesville, VA, USA) and, later, at Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, OH, USA), working on the pathophysiological mechanisms of intestinal inflammation.
Author of 48 experimental and clinical articles on inflammatory bowel diseases, mechanisms of intestinal inflammation, microscopic colitides and endoscopic techniques.
Winner of a Research Prize from the Italian Society of Gastroenterology (SIGE) in 2011; winner as collaborator of the Grant for "Young Researchers" from the Italian Ministry of Health in 2011; winner as Principal Investigator of the Grant for "Young Researchers 2016" from the Italian Ministry of Health in December 2017.
Since 2014 Member of the Steering Committee of G. S. M. I. I. (Gruppo Studio Malattie Infiammatorie Intestinali – Group for the Study of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases).
Since 2015 Member of the Steering Committee of S. I. G. E. (Società Italiana Gastroenterologia – Italian Society of Gastroenterology) Lombardy Section.
