The Department of Surgery at Policlinico San Donato is a high-volume, tertiary care referral center for esophageal disease which is recognized at national and international level. 90% of the surgical procedures are performed via minimally invasive techniques through a transoral, laparoscopic, or thoracoscopic approach. It is the only center in Italy and one of the few in the world where magnetic sphincter augmentation (LINX procedure) is performed in selected patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease.



Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery

The Upper Gastrointestinal Team provides care for patients with functional and neoplastic disorders of the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum. Diagnosing and treating Upper GI cancers requires a multidisciplinary team of experts who work together to ensure that patients receive the most appropriate treatment. Our multidisciplinary team is made up of expert medical professionals (surgeon, medical oncologist, gastroenterologist, radiotherapist, nutritionist) who meet together every week to make decisions about patients' management.

Colorectal Surgery

We provide surgical care for patients with disease affecting colon, rectum and anus.
