Professor Giuseppe Querques is an ophthalmologist in the Ophthalmology Unit at IRCCS San Raffaele, led by Professor Francesco Bandello, and serves as an Associate Professor at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University.
He graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1999 from the University of Bari and specialized in Ophthalmology in 2005 at the University of Foggia, where he also obtained a PhD in Clinical Medicine in 2009. In 2015, he earned the qualification to direct research at the Université Paris-Est Créteil.
Professor Querques performs various surgical procedures, primarily cataract extractions, as well as retinal laser surgery and intravitreal drug administration. He is also an expert in advanced multimodal imaging and diagnostics, particularly for retinal and macular diseases.
He has completed numerous international fellowships in ophthalmology across Europe and the USA. An active speaker at national and international conferences, he is a board member and co-founder of several international scientific societies in Europe, the USA, and Asia. Among his honors, he received the "American Academy of Ophthalmology Contributor Award" in 2018 and the "Young Investigator Award" from the Macula Society in 2019.
Professor Querques is the principal investigator and co-investigator in numerous international clinical trials and serves as editor-in-chief, co-editor, and editorial board member for international scientific journals. He has published over 600 scientific papers, primarily in the field of medical retina.
