Maria Napolitano

Dr. Maria Napolitano is a gastroenterologist at the Gastroenterology Unit of the IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital, directed by Prof. Silvio Danese. She also works at Policlinico San Marco, where she conducts outpatient visits in the gastroenterology service.

After graduating in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in 2016, she completed her specialization in Digestive System Diseases in 2022 at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University.

Dr. Napolitano performs both diagnostic and operative endoscopic procedures on the upper and lower digestive systems, for both elective and urgent cases. She also conducts outpatient visits for various gastroenterological conditions.

The conditions she primarily deals with include gastroesophageal reflux disease, esophageal achalasia, dyspepsia, chronic gastritis, Helicobacter pylori infection, gastroparesis, celiac disease, chronic diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome, colon polyps, hemorrhoids, and diverticular disease.

In terms of research, she focuses on luminal endoscopy, particularly in the areas of sedation during digestive endoscopy, endoscopic techniques for polyp resection, upper and lower gastrointestinal bleeding, and the endoscopic treatment of esophageal achalasia and gastroparesis.

She is a member of the Italian Society of Digestive Endoscopy (SIED), the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE), and the Italian Society of Gastroenterology (SIGE).
