Биография
Dr. Monica Stoppani is an ophthalmologist at the Ophthalmology Unit of the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele, directed by Prof. Francesco Bandello.
She obtained her degree in Medicine and Surgery in 1996 from the University of Milan and completed her specialization in Ophthalmology at the same institution in 2000.
Dr. Stoppani's main clinical and scientific interests include Pediatric Ophthalmology and both pediatric and adult strabismus. She is responsible for the strabismus service since 2000, focusing on the management of strabismus and diplopia through conservative and surgical treatments, often in association with rare diseases such as Myasthenia Gravis, genetic ophthalmoplegies, and Primary Muscle Fibrosis. She primarily employs minimally invasive surgical techniques to minimize surgical trauma and often uses topical anesthesia for adults who cannot undergo general anesthesia.
Her work also encompasses diplopia resulting from trauma, revisions of previous surgeries, and neonatal conditions like retinopathy of prematurity, congenital cataracts, congenital glaucoma, congenital ptosis, and obstructed tear ducts, as well as malformation syndromes.
Dr. Stoppani actively participates in national and international conferences as a speaker and serves as a tutor at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University.
