Alberto Barchi (Альберто Барки)

Биография

Dr. Alberto Barchi is a gastroenterologist at the Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy Unit of IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele. He also collaborates with IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele Turro.

In 2019, he graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Parma, and in 2025, he specialized in Diseases of the Digestive System at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University.

During his specialization, he completed a Visiting Fellowship funded by the United European Gastroenterology (UEG) at the prestigious Esophageal Motility Center of the University Medical Center (UMC) Amsterdam, a leading institution for esophageal diseases. His training focused on conditions such as eosinophilic esophagitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), achalasia, Barrett’s esophagus, and gastroparesis, utilizing state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques, including high-resolution esophageal manometry, esophageal pH-impedance monitoring, and endoFLIP technology.

His clinical practice is primarily dedicated to the diagnosis and management of benign gastroesophageal disorders, particularly eosinophilic esophagitis, GERD, achalasia, and gastroparesis.

Dr. Barchi is primarily involved in the Functional Digestive Physiology Unit, where he manages the Eosinophilic Esophagitis and Esophageal Achalasia outpatient clinics and specializes in esophageal motility studies, including high-resolution manometry and 24-hour pH-impedance monitoring. Additionally, he performs outpatient endoscopic procedures, including esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) and both diagnostic and operative colonoscopies.

His research activity focuses on benign esophageal disorders, particularly eosinophilic esophagitis, from both a clinical and translational research perspective, including participation in the EoEBiobank project (Eosinophilic Esophagitis Biobank). He is actively involved in national and international clinical research projects on eosinophilic esophagitis, GERD, Barrett’s esophagus, achalasia, and gastroparesis.

Dr. Barchi is the author or co-author of more than 50 scientific publications on these topics (H-index: 12) and is a member of leading national and international gastroenterology societies, including EUREOS, UEG, ESGE, and the Guidelines Committee of the International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus (ISDE).

He is a frequent speaker at national and international congresses and conferences in the field of gastroenterology.
