Eustachio Agricola
Biography
Professor Eustachio Agricola is the Head of Cardiovascular Imaging Service at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan. In addition, he is Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Diseases Section at the University Vita-Salute San Raffaele in Milan.
After graduating in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Siena in 1996, he specializes in Cardiology in the same institution in 2000. In 2002, he is awarded Master Degree in Stress Echo in Ischemic Heart Disease at the Laboratory of Echocardiography of the Institute of Clinical Physiology CNR-CREAS, in Pisa. From 2014 to 2015, he obtains the qualification in Management Skills for Cardiology Physicians at Bocconi University of Milan.
During the formative course, he also takes some training abroad, in Thoraxcenter, Erasmus MC, Rotterdam.
Over the years, Professor Agricola has dedicated himself to the development of clinical applications of advanced echocardiographic methods, such as three-dimensional echocardiography (transthoracic and transesophageal), pharmacological and physical echocardiography, non-invasive study of coronary flow reserve, echocontrastography, deformation imaging and fusion imaging. In addition, he has consolidated experience in valvulopathies interesting to both cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology, mitral valvulopathy, mitral reparative surgery and tricuspid valvulopathy.
Eustachio Agricola promotes and coordinates research activities in the field of cardiovascular imaging and in particular in the field of basic and advanced echocardiographic diagnostics (three-dimensional echocardiography and fusion imaging methods), as well as in the field of valvulopathies, in particular mitral and tricuspid valvulopathies. In recent years, he has dedicated himself with greater interest to imaging dedicated to percutaneous interventional procedures in all its aspects from patient selection to intraprocedural monitoring.
He is PI and Co-Investigator of several multicenter clinical trials, author of 212 publications in international journals and co-author of the European Recommendations and Guidelines of valvulopathies (2010), three-dimensional echocardiography (2012) and lung ultrasound (2012). His H-index is 37.
He is a member of the Editorial Board of scientific journals in the field, namely: Associate Editor of the International Journal of Cardiology, Associate Editor of the Cardiovascular Ultrasound, Member of the Editorial Board of European Heart Journal of Cardiovascular Imaging, and Member of the Editorial Board of Heart International. He has held and still holds positions in national and international scientific associations, including: 2016-2018 – Elected Member of Echo Section of EACVI (European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging); 2016-2018 – Member of EACVI Web and Communication Committee; 2014-2016 – Elected Coordinator of the Study Group of Echocardiography of the Italian Society of Cardiology; 2014-2016 – Member of EACVI Research & Innovation Committee; 2008-2012 – Elected Member of the Nucleus of the Study Group of Echocardiography of the Italian Society of Cardiology; since December 2019 – Chair of Task Force of Interventional Cardiac Imaging of EACVI (European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging).
