Amelia Caretto

Biographie

Dr. Amelia Caretto is a diabetologist-endocrinologist at the Endocrine-Diabetology Unit of the General Medicine Department at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele, directed by Professor Emanuele Bosi.

Dr. Caretto is also involved in academic activities as a contract lecturer and university tutor at the School of Medicine and Surgery and the School of Specialization in Internal Medicine at Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele.

After graduating with honors in Medicine and Surgery from Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele in Milan in 2010, she obtained her specialization in Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases with honors in 2016, also from Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele.

Her primary clinical interests include gestational diabetes, type 1 diabetes (particularly technologies applied to diabetes), and monogenic diabetes (MODY, Wolfram Syndrome). She is also involved in Frems treatment for pain associated with Dercum's Disease.

She serves as a sub-investigator in several phase II and III clinical trials and as a Principal Investigator in observational clinical studies. She has authored and co-authored over 20 scientific publications in national and international journals, with an H-index of 8. Dr. Caretto regularly participates in national and international conferences in her field. She is an associate member of the international Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Group (DPSG).

From 2019 to 2022, she was a member of the national educational committee of the young SID group (YoSID). She is a member of several scientific societies, including the Italian Society of Diabetology (SID), the Association of Diabetologists (AMD), and the Association of Endocrinologists (AME).
