Biographie

Dr. Orsini is a hematologist at the Immunohematology and Transfusion Medicine Service of IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital, directed by Dr. Luca Santoleri.

She graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 2014 from Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, with a thesis on bone marrow transplantation in adult oncohematological diseases. She completed her specialization in Hematology in 2019 at the University of Verona, during which she focused on the bone marrow transplant department and the follow-up of transplanted patients diagnosed with leukemias, myelomas, and aggressive lymphomas.

Currently, she works in the Transfusion Service, where she carries out clinical and laboratory activities at the blood bank. Since January 2023, she has been the Medical Director of the Therapeutic Apheresis Unit, which is dedicated to both adult and pediatric patients. This service is involved in collecting stem cells for autologous or allogeneic transplants, lymphocyte collections, cellular collections for gene therapy, plasmapheresis, and erythroapheresis. Dr. Orsini is also the medical consultant for the rare disease Systemic Mastocytosis.

Her clinical activities include selecting and managing bone marrow donor candidates, using cell separators for collecting hematopoietic stem cells for autologous or allogeneic transplants, collecting cellular products (lymphocytes/stem cells) for gene therapy in adult and pediatric patients, extracorporeal photopheresis, plasmapheresis, and erythroapheresis in patients with sickle cell disease, as well as outpatient management for anemia, thrombocytopenia, and transfusion medicine, including the Systemic Mastocytosis outpatient clinic (a member of RIMA, the Italian Mastocytosis Network).
