Alessandro Tomelleri
Biografie
Dr. Alessandro Tomelleri is an Immunologist and Rheumatologist working at the Unit of Immunology, Rheumatology, Allergology, and Rare Diseases, directed by Professor Lorenzo Dagna.
He graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 2015 from Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, where he specialized in Allergology and Clinical Immunology in 2020. He then completed a clinical research fellowship in the UK at NHS Southend University Hospital.
Dr. Tomelleri primarily focuses on large vessel vasculitis and inflammatory arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. His interests also include rare diseases such as Adult Still's disease, Erdheim-Chester disease, Behçet's disease, relapsing polychondritis, and VEXAS syndrome. He is responsible for the outpatient clinic dedicated to patients with polymyalgia rheumatica and giant cell arteritis and coordinates the fast-track clinic for the early diagnosis of giant cell arteritis. Additionally, he is involved in managing patients with arthritis undergoing treatment with biologic drugs.
His research activity focuses mainly on imaging diagnostic methods in large vessel vasculitis, and he is a member of the OMERACT ultrasound large-vessel group, an international study group. He is also a member of both the Italian study group and the international study group on giant cell arteritis and polymyalgia rheumatica. His research includes exploring new diagnostic and treatment modalities for rarer diseases, and he participates in dedicated study groups at both national and international levels.
Dr. Tomelleri has published numerous articles in scientific journals (H-index 17) and actively participates in national and international conferences in his field.
