Matteo Ferrarini
Biografie
Dr. Matteo Ferrarini is the Deputy Head of the Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery Unit at IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi - Sant’Ambrogio. He also collaborates with Smart Clinic and Palazzo della Salute-Wellness Clinic.
He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pavia in 1999. In 2000, he obtained his medical license. In 2004, he specialized in Cardiac Surgery at the University of Sassari.
In 2003, he completed a research fellowship in "Cardiac Failure and Gene Therapy of Acute Myocardial Infarction" at the Physiology Department of New York Medical College, Valhalla.
Since 2004, Dr. Ferrarini has gained continuous experience in both elective and emergency/urgent situations using a traditional approach, achieving full autonomy in:
- On and off-pump coronary surgery,
- Valve repair and replacement surgery,
- Thoracic aorta surgery,
- Surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation,
- Surgery for congenital heart conditions in adults.
For over 15 years, he has extensively focused on minimally invasive approaches in cardiac surgery, ranging from valve repair to hybrid myocardial revascularization.
He is the co-author of approximately 56 publications, posters, and case reports on topics including:
- Aortic and mitral valve disease,
- The use of sutureless aortic bioprostheses,
- Minimally invasive cardiac surgery,
- Gene therapy for myocardial infarction.
