Dr. Francesca Ratti Head of the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery of the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele under the supervision of Professor Luca Aldrighetti.
After graduating in 2009 from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the Vita Salute San Raffaele University of Milan, she specialized in general surgery at the same university in 2016.
Dr. Ratti's care and clinical research activities are mainly focused on the diagnosis and treatment of hepatobiliary neoplastic pathology, minimally invasive liver surgery, protocols for accelerated surgical management, the path of preoperative optimization in patients with perilar cholangiocarcinoma, programs for two-stage hepatectomy (two stage hepatectomy and ALPPS), treatment of portal hypertension and end-stage liver disease; and monitoring and management of critically ill surgical patients.
In terms of research, the doctor mainly deals with liver resection surgery and adjunctive/adjuvant treatment of primary and metastatic liver neoplasms, with particular emphasis on hepatocarcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma, colorectal and non-colorectal cancer metastases. In addition to this, she devotes herself to: surgery and adjunctive therapy of biliary tract neoplasms (intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, gallbladder tumor, Klatskin tumor); laparoscopic liver resections; LESS surgery in liver resection surgery; technical and biological aspects of resective liver surgery; pathophysiology of hepatic ischemia/reperfusion syndrome and the ERAS program (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery in liver resection surgery).
She constantly participates in national and international industry congresses. She is a member of the Executive Council of Scientific Societies (SPIGC – Italian Polyspecialized Society of Young Surgeons; WIS – Woman In Surgery; I Go MILS – Italian Group of Minimally Invasive Liver Surgery). Winner of the Crucitti Award (awarded by SPIGC to the best young surgeon of 2019. Lecturer at the Italian School of Minimally Invasive Liver Surgery (Ospedale San Raffaele – Coordination Center), the ACOI School of Liver Surgery "Lorenzo Capussotti" (Ospedale Mauriziano in Turin – Coordination Center) and training courses on open and laparoscopic national and international surgery held at the Ospedale San Raffaele.
She is the author of more than 300 original scientific articles published in peer-reviewed international journals (Hirsch Index 58). She constantly participates as a speaker and moderator at national and international industry conferences.
