Luca Licata

Dr. Luca Licata is a medical oncologist at the Oncology Medicine Unit and Oncology Day Hospital of IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele, under the direction of Professor Stefano Cascinu.
After earning his degree in Medicine and Surgery in 2013 from Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, he specialized in Medical Oncology in 2019 at the University of Pavia.
Since his early university years, Dr. Licata developed a deep interest in oncology, particularly in breast cancer. During his final year of university, he worked at the breast oncology clinic and the laboratory for the development of new drugs for solid tumors. During his specialization in Pavia, he focused primarily on the diagnosis and treatment of women with breast cancer in its various stages (from localized to metastatic disease).
Currently, his clinical practice is entirely dedicated to treating women with breast cancer. He is involved as an investigator in several clinical trials aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of innovative therapies and understanding the mechanisms of resistance and sensitivity of breast cancers to existing therapies.
Dr. Licata is part of the translational and immunotherapy clinical research group within the Medical Oncology Department and is particularly interested in identifying biomarkers for immunotherapy response, with a focus on triple-negative breast cancer.
He has authored several publications in international scientific journals and serves as a reviewer for journals such as the British Journal of Cancer, Breast Cancer Research and Treatment, The Oncologist, European Journal of Cancer Care, eCancer, and OncoTargets and Therapy.
