Luigi Ferini Strambi

Professor Luigi Ferini-Strambi is the Head of the Sleep Medicine Center at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan, as well as the Ordinary Professor in Neurology at the Faculty of Psychology at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan.

His educational path began with a Degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Milan, followed by a specialization in neurology at the same university. In 1984, he started researches in the United States of America as a postdoctoral fellow at the Sleep Disorders Research Center at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

From 1988 to 1998, he served as the Medical Director and Head of the Sleep Medicine Center. In the future, he repeatedly cooperated with the Center for Sleep Disorders at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. From 2006 to February 2015, he was the Adjunct Professor in General Psychology at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan.

He is the author of 334 scientific articles published in national and international indexed journals, as well as numerous chapters in books. He is actively engaged in research, which is confirmed by the high value of the Hirsch index: 64 (Scopus) and 77 (Google Scholar). In addition, he is a Field Editor for the Sleep Medicine journal and Associate Editor for the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, as well as the member of the Editorial Board of the Sleep Disorders, Behavioral Neurology and the Journal of Neurology, internationally influential scientific journals.

He is the past Chairman of the World Association of Sleep Medicine and Italian Sleep Medicine Association. The Professor Ferini-Strambi is currently the member of several scientific societies, including the European Sleep Research Society, European Academy of Neurology and American Academy of Sleep Disorders.
