Mariateresa Castiglioni
السيرة الذاتية
Mariateresa Castiglioni is responsible for the Functional Department of Pregnancy Pathology in the Department of Operative Obstetrics and Gynecology at the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele under the supervision of Professor Massimo Candiani.
After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan in 1985, she received a specialization at the same institute.
Through close collaboration with the institute's dialectologists, she is mainly involved in the study of diabetes both before pregnancy and during pregnancy. She is also interested in studying women with rheumatic pathology or with abortion problems, late abortion or thrombophilia; and patients with heart disease or endocrinological disorders, including patients with adrenal-genital syndrome.
From a research point of view, Dr. Castiglioni is an expert on markers of cellular and systemic inflammation in patients with multiple abortions and/or antiphospholipid antibody syndrome, studying the effectiveness of treatment with low molecular weight heparin in such patients. As part of the study of the causes of multiple abortions, she was engaged in the study of factors associated with pregnancy implantation anomalies, including genetic variations of the HLA-G system. She has also participated in clinical studies of patients with diabetes, both in relation to preeclampsia in patients with type 1 diabetes, and in regional population-based screening studies for gestational diabetes in Lombardy.
Dr. Castiglioni is the author and co-author of more than 50 scientific articles published in national and international journals. She has published a manual on obstetrics and gynecology addressed to doctors and midwives, which has now reached the fourth edition, and has also participated, with her chapters in the publication of other didactic texts.
