Robotic orthopedics in knee prostheses: how it works and what it is used for
Nicola Ursino (نيكولا أورسينو)
السيرة الذاتية
Dr Nicola Ursino is the Head of the Department of Joint Endoprosthetics and Orthopaedic Surgery (C.A.S.C.O.) at the IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi - Sant'Ambrogio in Milan, as well as the lecturer and academic advisor in orthopaedics and traumatology at the University of Milan.
After graduating from the University of Genoa in 1988, he continued his studies at the University of Milan, where he specialized in orthopaedics and traumatology five years later. He works in numerous orthopaedic and traumatology fields. As a primary surgeon, he carried out more than 1000 prosthetic operations, 850 knee operations and 1100 hip operations. During his studies he assisted in over 2000 prosthetic operations. In addition to traditional surgical techniques, he makes extensive use of minimally invasive techniques.
In hip surgery, Dr Ursino treats coxarthrosis, necrosis, dysplasia, fracture outcomes, femoro-acetabular impingement, intra-articular bodies, injuries of the joint labrum, internal and external clicking hip syndrome, senescent joint prosthesis or infection outcomes, and dislocations. He performs total hip and neck prosthetics, using high-strength materials (latest generation ceramics, polyethylene with vitamin E).
In knee surgery, focuses on the treatment of gonarthrosis, necrosis, hypoplasia, valgus deformities of the knee, fracture and meniscectomy outcomes, osteotomies, ligament or extensor apparatus injuries, mobile bodies, chondrocalcinosis, arthritis and gout. He performs minimally invasive total knee replacement, unicondylar and patellofemoral arthroplasty. In arthroscopy he performs meniscectomy, meniscal suture, reconstruction of the anterior, posterior cruciate ligament or collateral ligament, osteotomy for varus and valgus knee deformities, and wing ligament reconstruction.
He is actively involved in shoulder surgery, cuff reparation with mini-open access, anatomical or reverse shoulder replacement, arthroscopy with cuff suture with anchors, capsuloplasty, tenotomy or tenodesis of the long biceps head and Latarjet surgery. In this field he treats pathologies such as shoulder arthrosis, tendinitis, rotator cuff injuries, fracture or dislocation outcomes, post-traumatic or idiopathic instability, sub-acromial conflict, periarthritis and capsulitis.
Regarding traumatology, Nicola Ursino performs fracture surgery by fusion, using AO plates, fixation with intramedullary nails, stem cells and platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Throughout his career, he has been involved in scientific activities at the Fondazione Scienza e Vita and, in particular, in recent years has published numerous articles in international indexed journals on topics ranging from regenerative medicine to prosthetic surgery and has spoken at many national and international congresses.
