Pierluigi Novellis
السيرة الذاتية
Dr. Pierluigi Novellis is a thoracic surgeon in the Department of Thoracic Surgery of the Clinical Research Institute in the Strategic Robotic Thoracic Surgery Program at the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele under the supervision of Professor Giulia Veronesi in collaboration with the Department of Thoracic Surgery.
After graduating with honors from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the Campus Bio-Medico University in Rome in 2008, he received a specialization in thoracic surgery at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart – Policlinico A. Gemelli of Rome in 2014. During his studies, the doctor visited several international departments as an attending physician: Department of Thoracic Surgery University Hospital Bristol NHS Foundation Trust; Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery Baptist Health South Florida South Miami Hospital, USA; Department of Thoracic Surgery, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, USA. Finally, he attended a course on epidemiology and advanced statistics for clinical research organized by Università Hunimed.
Clinically, Dr. Novellis currently holds the position of assistant in the department of thoracic surgery, where he has been working vertically since 2008. Over the years, his main interests have become minimally invasive robotic lung cancer treatment, postoperative quality of life assessment, and early diagnosis.
Research activity reflects clinical interest. Following in the footsteps of his teacher, Prof. Giulia Veronesi, his main interest was in the early diagnosis of lung cancer through screening (insert hyperlink) and the use of a robot in minimally invasive robotic surgery. The ideal of the study is to detect lung tumors at a very early stage, which can be cured radically with operations that only minimally change the patient's quality of life. He is also actively involved in translational research protocols, in interdisciplinary research both in the institutional field and in collaboration with other centers.
He is a member of the European Society of Thoracic Surgery (ESTS), the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), the Italian Society of Thoracic Surgery (SICT), the Society of Thoracic Endoscopy (SIET), was a member of the Association of Clinical Robotic Surgery (CRSA) and the International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery (ISMICS).
He is the author and co-author of more than 60 publications in national and international scientific journals and 3 book chapters. His Hirsch Index is 11. He constantly participates in national and international industry conferences as a speaker. Works as a tutor for students in the process of professional development.
