Over the years, his main interests have become minimally invasive robotic lung cancer treatment, postoperative quality of life assessment, and early diagnosis.
Research activity reflects clinical interest. Following in the footsteps of his teacher, Prof. Giulia Veronesi, his main interest was in the early diagnosis of lung cancer through screening (insert hyperlink) and the use of a robot in minimally invasive robotic surgery. The ideal of the study is to detect lung tumors at a very early stage, which can be cured radically with operations that only minimally change the patient's quality of life. He is also actively involved in translational research protocols, in interdisciplinary research both in the institutional field and in collaboration with other centers.
He is a member of the European Society of Thoracic Surgery (ESTS), the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), the Italian Society of Thoracic Surgery (SICT), the Society of Thoracic Endoscopy (SIET), was a member of the Association of Clinical Robotic Surgery (CRSA) and the International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery (ISMICS).
He is the author and co-author of more than 60 publications in national and international scientific journals and 3 book chapters. His Hirsch Index is 11.
