Luca Bertoglio
Biography
Professor Luca Bertoglio is an Associate Professor of Vascular Surgery at the Vita-Salute University of San Raffaele and carries out clinical activities as Chief Assistant and Head of the Functional Department of Endovascular Surgery and Arterial Pathology in the Department of Operative Vascular Surgery of the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele under the supervision of Professor Roberto Chiesa.
In 2003, he graduated with honors from the University of Genoa with a degree in Medicine and Surgery, and in 2008 he received a specialization in vascular surgery at the Vita Salute San Raffaele University in Milan. He conducts specialized internships abroad on surgical and endovascular methods of treatment of aneurysmal pathology in well-known international institutes.
Current clinical and scientific interest mainly concerns surgical and endovascular treatment of arterial and venous pathology (10,744 operations, of which 3,807 by the 1st surgeon). Professor Bertoglio is particularly interested in the treatment of aneurysms and dissections of the abdominal and thoracic aorta, thoraco-abdominal aorta and aortic arch through surgical reconstruction (bypass surgery) or endovascular treatment (endoprosthetics); carotid stenosis, subclavian or vertebral artery stenosis (endarterectomy or angioplasty/stent); lower limb ischemia through surgical reconstruction (bypass surgery) or endovascular treatment ( angioplasty/stent).
In the last decade, he has been engaged in complex minimally invasive endovascular treatment of pathology of the aortic arch and thoracoabdominal aorta with fenestrated and branched endoprostheses, and also participates and coordinates numerous national and international studies.
He is the author of 138 publications in international journals (Hirsch index 22; citations 1735), 2 textbooks and 55 chapters included in texts on vascular surgery. He is a member of the prestigious scientific societies of the industry (SICVE and ESVS). He annually participates in national and international industry congresses as a speaker and is a reviewer of well-known scientific journals.
