Biography

Michele Paganelli, Surgeon General and Hepatobiliary Surgeon, is the Information Technology Coordinator of the Hepatobiliary Surgery Department at the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan under the supervision of Professor Luca Aldrighetti.

In 1982, he graduated with honors from the University of Pisa with a degree in Medicine and Surgery, and five years later received a postgraduate diploma in General Surgery at the same institute. In 1992, he received a second specialization in emergency surgery and first aid at the University of Milan. In 1998, he received a Bachelor'S Degree in Thoracic Surgery from the same institute.

Since April 1987, Dr. Michele Paganelli has been working as a surgeon at the IRCCS San Raffaele in Milan. During his studies, he also spent a period abroad at the Presbyterian University Hospital in Pittsburgh (USA).

Paganelli performed about 4,000 operations as the first surgeon, mostly even major operations, in particular, on the liver, pancreas, upper and lower digestive system, including with a laparoscopic approach, additionally worked as a second surgeon and mentor for trainees.

In terms of research activity, Dr. Paganelli is an expert in hepatobiliary surgery. He is the author and co-author of more than 200 publications, both in industry scientific journals and in book chapters. His Hirsch Index is 25. Constantly takes part in national and international industry congresses. Dr. Paganelli is also a member of various scientific societies, such as the Italian Society of Surgery (SIC), the Italian Society of Endoscopic Surgery and New Technologies (SICE), the European Association of Endoscopic Surgery (EAES), the Italian Society for Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Diseases (SICOB), the International Federation of Obesity Surgery (IFSO).
