Delia Romanò

Dr. Delia Romanò is an orthopedic surgeon at the Unit of Reconstructive Surgery and Osteoarticular Infections (C.R.I.O.) of IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi - Sant’Ambrogio and collaborates with Policlinico San Marco (BG).
In 1995, she graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan; in 2000, she received a specialization in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the II School of Specialization in Milan and interned in the Department of Hand Surgery, while attending the Department of Surgery of Bone and Joint Infections also at the Milan Institute of J. Pini.
She also attends various centers of excellence to improve her skills in rheumatoid arthritis treatment surgery and in hand and wrist surgery, such as:
- Institute de la Main in Paris,
- Schultess Klinik in Zurich,
- Auguste Viktoria Klinik in Bad Einhausen (Hamburg),
- Rhoen Klinikum in Bad Neustadt (Bavaria).
From 2005 to 2008, she holds the post of Medical Director of the first level at the San Carlo Borromeo Institute in Milan with experience in traumatology.
Since 2008, she has been working in the Department of Reconstructive Surgery and Osteoarticular Infections at the IRCCS Istituto Ortopedico Galeazzi under the supervision of Dr. Antonio Pellegrini.
Dr. Romano has experience in the treatment of bone infections associated with implants (periprosthetic infections and associated with synthesis agents) and unrelated (osteomyelitis, compression trauma), in respect of which the team conducted numerous studies on bacterial biofilm in terms of the implementation of absorbable antibacterial coatings, as well as the use of antibacterial bio-glasses - studies that significantly improved the percentage of cure of this type of pathology.
She also deals with the treatment of complications in orthopedic and traumatological surgery in general, such as:
- Painful or unstable joint prostheses,
- Non-fusion of fractures and/or healing defects (pseudoarthrosis).
Finally, she is engaged in conservative, infiltrative and surgical treatment of arthrosis of small and large joints and the treatment of pain symptoms in general.
