Elena Marina Baldissera

Dr. Elena Marina Baldissera is an Immunologist and Rheumatologist at the Clinical Unit of Immunology, Rheumatology, Allergology, and Rare Diseases, directed by Professor Lorenzo Dagna.
She graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in 1994 and specialized in Allergology and Clinical Immunology in 1998 at the same university. In 2001, she spent time as a Visiting Professor at the Rheumatology Division of the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Baldissera coordinates the Rheumatology area of the Unit. Over the years, she has gained extensive experience in managing autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, particularly focusing on the diagnosis and treatment with innovative drugs for arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthropathy, ankylosing spondylitis). She has also developed considerable expertise in managing large vessel vasculitis, particularly Takayasu arteritis, and in the therapeutic management of immune-mediated eye diseases (ocular pemphigoid, uveitis, chorioretinitis, orbital pseudotumor, autoimmune retinopathies) in collaboration with Ophthalmology colleagues, as well as autoimmune diseases of the inner ear.
Her interests also include rare diseases, such as autoinflammatory diseases like Adult-Onset Still's Disease, relapsing polychondritis, and Cogan's syndrome.
She is the author and co-author of 137 scientific articles, with an H-index of 23.
