Francesco Ancona

Dr. Francesco Ancona is a cardiologist at the Echocardiography-Cardiovascular Imaging Laboratory of IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan, directed by Prof. Eustachio Agricola.

After graduating with honors and special mention in Medicine and Surgery from Università Vita Salute San Raffaele in 2011, he specialized with honors in Cardiology at the same institution in 2017. In 2021, he obtained a Master’s degree in Sports Cardiology from the University of Padua.

Over the years, Dr. Ancona has focused on the development of clinical applications of advanced echocardiographic techniques, such as three-dimensional echocardiography (transthoracic and transesophageal) and pharmacological and physical stress echocardiography. He has gained extensive experience in valvulopathies of both surgical and interventional interest, particularly mitral and tricuspid valve diseases. He specializes in imaging related to percutaneous interventions, overseeing all aspects from patient selection to intraprocedural monitoring.

He also engages in cardiological emergency care and outpatient cardiology, addressing common cardiac conditions such as hypertension, ischemic heart disease, acute and chronic valvulopathies, atrial fibrillation, and supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias. Additionally, he is involved in cardiovascular prevention and sports cardiology.

Dr. Ancona is the author and co-author of over 60 publications in scientific journals and book chapters, with an H-index of 13. He regularly participates in national and international conferences and is a member of the editorial boards of scientific journals in his field. He has held and continues to hold roles in national and international scientific associations related to echocardiographic imaging.
