Giacomo Bortolussi

Dr. Giacomo Bortolussi is a cardiac surgeon at the Policlinico San Donato Department of Adult Cardiac Surgery in Milan.
In 2010 he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Padua; in 2016 he received a specialization in cardiac surgery at the University of Verona.
From 2010 to 2015, he specialized in heart failure, mechanical care and artificial heart at Policlinico Universitario di Padova. Then, until 2018, he moved to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham (England), where he is engaged in heart and lung transplantation, at the same time devoting himself to research.
Since 2019, he has been working at Policlinico San Donato, treating major cardiac surgical pathologies in the operating room, intensive care unit, inpatient department and polyclinic.
Among the operations performed:
- coronary artery bypass grafting;
- plastic surgery and valve replacement even with minimally invasive access;
- replacement of the ascending aorta;
- emergency extracorporeal care ECMO.
Dr. Bortolussi conducts clinical research, in particular analysis of results and quality, based on national and international databases.
He is a member of the Quip Adult Cardiac Database Task Force of the European Society of Cardiac Surgery (EACTS).
He has presented his works at congresses in Europe and the USA and has more than 30 publications (Pubmed), with a Hirsch Index-7 (Scopus).
