Professor Giampiero Negri is the Head of the Thoracic Surgery Unit at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan and Associate Professor at the University Vita-Salute San Raffaele, where he is also Director of the School of Specialization in Thoracic Surgery.
After graduating in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Perugia, he specialized in General Surgery at the University of Milan and then in Thoracic Surgery at the University of Turin. In 1987, he was a Visiting Fellow at Saint Mark's Hospital in London, and a few years later at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
From 2002 to 2017, he was head of the Functional Unit of Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery, before becoming Chief of the Operational Unit of Thoracic Surgery, which also includes the Functional Unit of Thoracic Endoscopy

His clinical and research activities focus on oncology of the lung and mediastinum and minimally invasive thoracic surgery.
He is the author of 12 book chapters, 11 scientific videos, a monograph and more than 200 scientific publications in national and international journals, including Gut, Annals of Thoracic Surgery, Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Journal of Nuclear Medicine, Journal of Thoracic Disease, Current Radiopharmaceuticals Journal, Pediatric Pulmonology, Journal Cardiovascular Surgery and The Journal of Endovascular Therapy.
Professor Giampiero Negri is an international member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the European Board of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons, the Italian Society of Thoracic Surgery and the Italian Society of Thoracic Endoscopy.
