Massimo Barbieri (ماسيمو باربيري)
السيرة الذاتية
Dr. Massimo Barbieri is Head of Interventional Pain Therapy at the IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi-Sant'Ambrogio and at the Istituto Clinico Città di Pavia.
His studies begin with a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan (1992) and continue with a specialization in anesthesia and intensive care from the University of Pavia in 1998.
He deals with the problems of anesthesia in obstetrics, gynecology and orthopedics, determining methods suitable for anesthesia of childbirth during the postoperative period, for the introduction of drugs into the spinal canal and for local and regional anesthesia.
During his career, he devoted himself to the problem of cancer pain, taking an interest in palliative care and helping to launch the first palliative care unit at the Fondazione Salvatore Maugeri in Pavia. Dr. Massimo Barbieri uses all possible percutaneous techniques (for back pain), including epidural and radicular blocks, facet joint blocks, facet joint denervation, discography and thermal disc injury. In particular, he deepens the percutaneous neuromodulation of the spinal cord by implanting numerous pumps subcutaneously for the administration of opioids in insurmountable pain.
The further field of activity is neuropathic pain (its diagnosis, appropriate pharmacological and surgical treatment), neurostimulation of the cerebral, sacral, occipital and peripheral nerves, and intrarectal administration of drugs (pharmacological neuromodulation).
In particular, he uses the following analgesic therapies: epidural injections, sacroiliac joints, pulsed radio frequency on the dorsal root ganglia, disc diagnostics and intradiscal treatment, thoracic and lumbar sympathetic blockades, percutaneous and endoscopic transforaminal discectomy, implantation of spinal neuromodulation systems, spinal denervation, cryoneurolysis and many others.
He is a member of scientific associations such as the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP). In 2011, he received the Fellow of the Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP) from the World Institute of Pain.
