Paola De Nardi

Dr. Paola De Nardi is the Head of the Functional Department of the Department of Gastroenterological Surgery of the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele under the supervision of Professor Riccardo Rosati.

In the academic sector, she is an Associate Professor at the Vita Salute San Raffaele University.

After graduating with honors from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan in 1986, she graduated with honors in general surgery at the same university in 1991.

The clinical, surgical and research activities of the doctor are aimed at tumor, benign and functional pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract and, in particular, the colon, rectum, and anus. In this regard, she performs operations using both traditional and laparoscopic methods; in addition, she has devoted herself to the development of transanal and transperineal methods for the study of coloanal anastomosis ("APPEAR") used in laparoscopic rectal surgery.

Dr. De Nardi is also a member of the interdisciplinary team for a comprehensive approach to patients with complex pelvic floor diseases or dysfunctions, as well as for minimally invasive treatment of multiple prolapses. She devoted herself to the development of reconstructive and minimally invasive methods for the treatment of fecal incontinence and was a member of the working group "Problems associated with urinary and fecal incontinence" of the Main Department of Health Prevention of the Ministry of Health.

She is the author of more than 100 original scientific articles published in international journals. She constantly participates as a speaker and moderator at national and international industry congresses.
