السيرة الذاتية
Dr. Paolo Della Bella is the Head of the Department of Arrhythmology and Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Ospedale San Raffaele Clinical Research Institute in Milan.
He was educated at the University of Milan, where he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery and specialized in cardiology (1982) and anesthesia and resuscitation (1990). Among the diverse experience abroad, one can single out the period of studies from 1986 to 1987, conducted at the University of Maastricht, as well as the experience gained in the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Western Ontario in the USA, and later in the Laboratory of Electrophysiology headed by Professor Jackman (Oklahoma City - USA).
From 1991 to 2009, he was the head physician of the Cardiological Center named after Monzino, and then took the position of the Head of the Department of Arrhythmology and the Laboratory of Electrophysiology at the Clinical Institute Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan. His contributions to the discipline of Electrophysiology are recognized worldwide for his work in the treatment of ventricular arrhythmias.
A unique activity and a special pride of the San Raffaele Clinical Institute is the Department of Advanced Ventricular Arrhythmia Treatment, which is visited by patients from all over the country and Europe. This department is characterized by the highest level of technical equipment and a high level of cooperation between the departments of electrophysiology, cardiac surgery, intensive care for the treatment of progressive heart failure.
Techniques for mapping and visualizing ventricular arrhythmias using electrical methods, as well as the study of new physical forms of energy for use in long-term treatment of arrhythmias are of particular scientific interest to him.
Dr. Della Bella is a member of the editorial board of such journals as the Europace, Journal of American College of Cardiology, Circulation and Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology. He is the author of articles published in the Circulation Arrhythmia Electrophysiology, European Heart Journal, Journal of American College of Cardiology, Heart Rhythm, International Journal of Cardiology, Europace, JACC Cardiovascular Imaging, Journal of Arrhythmia, and Journal of American Heart Association. Since 2017, he has also been leading a training course organized by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC). He is the Director of the DASCAM course at the University of Maastricht, organized by the Cardiological Society for the scientific and technical training of persons who will take up leadership positions in the main European structures dealing with arrhythmology and electrophysiology.
