Prof. Roberto Furlan carries out his clinical activities in the Department of Neurology of the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele under the supervision of professor Massimo Filippi. He is the Director of the Institute of Experimental Neurology (INSPE) and President of the International Society of Neuroimmunology.

After graduating from the University of Milan in medicine and surgery in 1991, he received his doctorate from the Biologia Cellulare Open University in London (c/o San Raffaele) in 2002. Finally, in 2007, he specialized in neurology at the Vita Salute San Raffaele in Milan.

Prof. Furlan is the head of the Department of Clinical Neuroimmunology and Deputy Director of the Institute of Experimental Neurology. In addition, the professor carries out teaching activities as a contract lecturer at the University of Vita-Salute San Raffaele.

From a clinical point of view, the professor carries out his activities mainly in the general neurology clinic. Both at the clinical and research level, the professor mainly deals with neuroimmunological (for example, multiple sclerosis) and psychiatric (anxiety and depression) pathologies.

Prof. Furlan is also the President of the Italian Association of Neuroimmunology.

He is the author and co-author of more than 170 publications in national and international scientific journals and book chapters. His Hirsch index is 55. He is a regular speaker at national and international conferences.
