Andrea Kahlberg
Biography
Andrea Kahlberg is an Associate Professor of Vascular Surgery at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, and also performs clinical activity as Assistant Chief Physician and Coordinator of the Emergency Vascular Surgery Unit at the Clinical Research Institute Ospedale San Raffaele, headed by Professor Roberto Chiesa. In addition, he collaborates with the Casa di Cura La Madonnina Clinic in Milan.
Graduated with honors and accolades in 2005 from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, he completed his specialization in vascular surgery at the same university in 2010. In addition, he has experience abroad, among which the internship at the University Hospital of Zurich in 2015 stands out.
During his career, he has participated in more than 8,000 interventions (of which he performed about 3,000 as the first surgeon) in vascular and/or endovascular surgery to treat aneurysms and dissections of the abdominal and/or thoracic aorta and/or aortic arch by surgical reconstruction (bypass surgery) or endovascular treatment (endoprosthetics); Carotid stenosis, subclavian artery stenosis or spinal stenosis (endarterectomy or angioplasty/stenting); lower limb ischaemia by surgical reconstruction (bypass surgery) or endovascular treatment (angioplasty/stenting). Professor Kahlberg also deals with upper thoracic aperture syndrome, using muscle dissection (scalenotomy) or removal of extra ribs, and lower limb venous insufficiency, using safenectomy or radiofrequency thermoablation.
In particular, in the last 10 years he has studied the most recently discovered endovascular technologies and materials for minimally invasive treatment of arterial pathology, acting as a participant and coordinator of numerous international multicenter studies and trials.
He is the author of 70 scientific articles published in prestigious international scientific journals (Hirsch Index = 18) and 16 textbooks related to various aspects of vascular surgery. He has been invited to participate as a speaker in more than 100 international scientific congresses, he is a member of the most prestigious scientific societies in the field (such as the Italian Society of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, European Society for Vascular Surgery, European Society for Cardiovascular Surgery), from 2017 to 2019 he was the Chairman of the College of University Researchers in Vascular Surgery.
