Caterina Lania
Biography
Dr. Caterina Lania is a consultant in Andrology and Urology in the Operational Unit of Urology at the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele under the supervision of Professor Francesco Montorsi.
After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan in 1979, she completed professional training in the Departments of General Surgery and Thoracic Surgery, and then, since 1987, in the Department of Urology of the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele. She received a specialization in andrology at the University of Pisa in 1983, in 1988 she specialized in general surgery at the University of Milan and in 2000 in urology at the University of Florence.
From a clinical point of view, she performs all diagnostic procedures for infertility, impotence and bladder tumors; in addition to andrological and urological interventions, she has accumulated considerable experience in the treatment of calculus, personally performing lithotripsy and endoscopic procedures before and after treatment.
Deals with congenital and acquired pathologies of the male genital organs:
- erectile dysfunction,
- plastic induration of the penis,
- benign and malignant testicular diseases
- superficial tumors of the bladder.
She is also engaged in:
- female incontinence,
- recurrent infections of female urogenital organs (cystitis) and male (prostatitis, urethritis),
- benign and malignant pathologies of the prostate gland.
She also carries out research activities in the laboratory on the pathophysiology of the genitourinary system and male infertility. Her interests are focused, in particular, on areas related to andrology, urology, the study of receptors of the genitourinary system in vitro and methods of restoring male fertility.
He is the author of more than 150 original scientific articles published in national and international journals.
She constantly participates in national and international industry congresses.
