Claudio Lamartina
Biography
Dr. Claudio Lamartina is the Head of the GSpine4 Spine Surgery Department and Director of the Spine Research Program at the Ospedale Galeazzi - Sant'Ambrogio in Milan. Since 2003 he has been the Visiting Professor at the Universities of Milan and Turin.
His educational path began at the University of Palermo, where he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in 1974. In the same year he moved to Milan, where he began his long-term cooperation with the Ospedale Galeazzi - Sant'Ambrogio. At the University of Milan, he completed his first specialization in anesthesiology and resuscitation in 1977, and then in orthopedics and traumatology in 1980. In 2019, he was awarded an honorary doctorate in medicine at the University of Antenora Orrego in Trujillo, Peru.
He performs more than 150 surgical operations on the spine per year, including fractures, infections, tumors of the spine, scoliosis, spondylolisthesis, kyphosis, degenerative pathologies. He often deals with complex cases of revision surgery. His main research interests include spondylolisthesis and scoliosis in adults.
He has extensive experience abroad as a visiting surgeon. Dr. Claudio Lamartina has cooperated with Ali Omar Askar Hospital Al Sbea in Tripoli, Libya, Royal Medical Services King Hussien Medical City, Farah Rehabilitation Center and Al Khalidi Hospital Jabal in Amman, Jordan, and Kuwait City Hospital, Kuwait. As a speaker, Dr. Lamartina has participated in numerous international symposia on spine surgery.
The position of the Head of the Expert Center for Spine Surgery of the AOSpine European Region is among the various positions he holds. Thanks to the specialized channel created by him, specialists from all over the world have the opportunity to follow the process of developing surgical techniques.
He is the author of over 100 scientific publications published in the European Spine Journal and European Journal of Orthopedic Surgeon Traumatology. Publications topics are spondylolisthesis, congenital deformities, deformities in adolescents and adults, and surgical methods of treatment.
He is the Associate Editor for Clinical Medicine of the European Spine Journal and is the member of the Editorial Board of The Spine Journal. He is the member of the MEM MEDIA Foundation.
