Piermarco Piatti
Biography
Dr. Piermarco Piatti directs the Functional Department of Cardiometabolic and Clinical Trials of the Department of Operative General Medicine with special attention to Diabetes and Metabolic Endocrine Diseases at the IRCCS San Raffaele under the supervision of Professor Emanuele Bosi.
After graduating from the University of Milan in 1981 with a degree in Medicine and Surgery, he specialized at the same institute in diabetology and metabolic diseases in 1985 and then in biochemistry and clinical chemistry. In 2005, he received a Master's Degree in Rehabilitation for Diseases of the Cardiovascular System from the University of Naples Federico II. During his career, Dr. Piatti has spent several periods of research abroad at Newcastle University in England and at the Claude Bernard University of Lyon in France.
The clinical and outpatient activities of Dr. Piermarco Piatti are mainly related to diabetes and dyslipidemia, and he collaborates daily with the departments of cardiology, cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, vascular surgery, infectious diseases and psychiatry of this institute.
Dr. Piatti was President of the Italian Society of Diabetes, Section of Lombardy, and National Coordinator of the Atherosclerosis and Cardiovascular Diseases Group of the Italian Society of Diabetes.
He conducts experimental clinical trials in the prevention and treatment of diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease and is the principal investigator of about 30 sponsored clinical trials relating to the prevention and treatment of diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, cardiovascular disease and renal failure.
He is the author and co-author of 200 publications in industry scientific journals and book chapters. His Hirsch Index is 36. Constantly takes part in national and international industry congresses.
