Walter Pascale
Biography
Professor Walter Pascale is the Head of the Knee Surgery and Traumatology Unit II and the CRIO - Reconstructive Surgery and Osteo-Articular Infections Unit at IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi - Sant’Ambrogio in Milan and a contract professor at the University of Milan.
After graduating in Medicine and Surgery from the University Federico II of Naples, he specialized in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the University of Milan in 1985. He is a lecturer at the University of Motor Sciences in Rome in the course of Anatomy and Physiology of Joints.
His specific field of interest is Orthopaedic Surgery, with particular regard to ligament reconstructions, Arthrosis Surgery and articular cartilage treatment. As the first operator, Dr. Pascale performed the following interventions: 9,435 knee arthroscopies for various types of injuries (meniscal, cartilaginous), 2,478 ligament reconstructions, 2,204 traumatology operations, 982 total knee arthroplasties, 438 hip arthroplasties, 128 knee osteotomies, 58 shoulder operations, 265 ankle arthroscopies and 212 monocompartimental arthroplasties.
In the field of research, Prof. Walter Pascale carries out studies on knee ligaments and articular cartilage metabolism. His contributions appear in indexed journals, such as Minerva Ortopedica e Traumatologica, Osteo Trauma Care, The Hospital for Special Surgery Journal, Sphera Journal, Orthopedics, Journal of Arthroplasty e Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research. He published 5 monographs on Orthopedics, Endoscopy Arthroscopy and Laser techniques.
He is an academic at the Roman Academy of Biomedical Sciences and teaches at the Master Course in Knee Surgery at the University of Montpellier. Dr. Pascale collaborates with numerous international institutes, such as the Orthopedic Center University of Munich, Germany, and, the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York and the Educational Center Arthroscopy in Florida, USA.
