Dr. Simona Irma Rocchetti is a general surgeon at the General Surgery and Emergency Unit and the Emergency Department at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan, led by Dr. Michele Carlucci.
She graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery in 1999 from the University of Milan and specialized again with honors in General Surgery in 2005 at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University.
Dr. Rocchetti is the Head of Medium and Low Intensity Surgery (week and day surgery) in the General Surgery and Emergency Department. She has developed particular expertise in elective and emergency gallbladder surgery, mainly using minimally invasive techniques, and in all aspects of abdominal wall surgery, both elective and emergency, including primary (inguinal hernias, ventral hernias, linea alba hernias, Spigelian hernias, umbilical hernias) and secondary conditions (incisional hernias, recurrent hernias), with advanced skills in minimally invasive techniques.
Her research interests include abdominal wall surgery, gallbladder surgery, minimally invasive approaches in emergency surgery, and artificial nutrition in surgery.
Dr. Rocchetti is the author of numerous publications and regularly participates in national and international conferences.
