Gastrointestinal Diseases
Gastroenterologists manage disorders of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, which includes esophagus, stomach, small and large intestine, anus, liver and biliary system, pancreas.
Units of Gruppo San Donato boast one of the largest and most consolidated number of cases in Italy with medical, endoscopic, and surgical (traditional and laparoscopic) approaches in treatment of malignant, inflammatory, and functional pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract, liver and pancreas.
At Gruppo San Donato was established a program of preventive and personalized medicine for first-degree relatives of patients with bowel, stomach and pancreatic cancer called GASTRO PER ME (GASTROintestinal PERsonalized MEdicine). The program aims to assess their genetic risk of developing cancer and propose diagnostic procedures and follow up aimed at prevention or diagnosis.
