Dr. Brigida Anna Maiorano is a medical oncologist at the Medical Oncology Unit of the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele.
In 2013, she graduated in Medicina e Chirurgia from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Rome, where she also specialized in Oncologia Medica in 2019. At the same university, she obtained a Dottorato di Ricerca in Scienze Oncologiche in 2023.
In 2024, she completed a Master di II livello in Metodi Statistici per la Ricerca Clinica e l'Epidemiologia at the Università Vanvitelli in Naples.
Dr. Maiorano is a medical oncologist at the Dipartimento di Oncologia Medica of the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele, directed by Prof. Michele Reni, where she works in the Ambulatori and the Day Hospital of the gruppo genito-urinario (responsible: Prof. Andrea Necchi).
She focuses primarily on the diagnosis and treatment of neoplasie genito-urinarie (bladder, prostate, kidney, testicular, and rare tumors).
The group specializes in the study of new drugs for neoplasie genito-urinarie and was among the first in the world to use immunotherapy in the perioperative setting of bladder cancer. Under Prof. Necchi's leadership, the group conducts numerous phase I, II, and III studies on all neoplasie genito-urinarie (bladder, kidney, prostate, testicular, and rare tumors).
Dr. Maiorano’s research interests also include studying response factors to immunotherapy and new drugs, with a focus on microbiota and circulating biomarkers. Additionally, she is involved in the study of large databases and real-world data, as well as bioinformatics and artificial intelligence. She has expertise in research methodology and epidemiology, including systematic reviews of the literature and meta-analyses.
She is the author of over 50 publications and other abstracts in indexed and peer-reviewed scientific journals.
She is a member of several scientific societies, including AIOM (Associazione Italiana di Oncologia Medica), ESMO (Società Europea di Oncologia Medica), Siuro (Società Italiana di Uro-Oncologia), GOIM (Gruppo Oncologico dell'Italia Meridionale), Meet-URO (network italiano delle neoplasie genito-urinarie), IBCN (International Bladder Cancer Network), and IBCG (Gruppo Internazionale dei Tumori della Vescica). She serves on the board of the giovani members of Siuro, is the coordinator of the gruppo giovani of Meet-URO, and is the coordinator of the gruppo delle neoplasie genito-urinarie of GOIM.
