Dr. Matteo Saccocci is a Cardiac Surgeon at the Heart Valve Center within the Cardiac Surgery Unit, led by Professor Francesco Maisano, at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan. He also collaborates with the Clinico San Rocco Institute in Ome (BS).
In 2012, he graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pisa with top honors and continued his education by specializing in Cardiac Surgery at the University of Milan in 2018.
He enhanced his expertise in mitral valve repair techniques in the United States as a visiting physician at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.
Focusing on cardiac valve pathologies, Dr. Saccocci served as a Research Fellow at the Heart Valve Center of the University of Zurich, Switzerland, completing a post-graduate course in Interventional Structural Cardiology.
In 2023, he completed further training in echocardiography, earning a master's degree in Structural Interventional Echocardiography from Vita-Salute San Raffaele University (UniSR) in Milan.
Currently, Dr. Saccocci is a consultant at the Heart Valve Center of Ospedale San Raffaele, where he performs transcatheter interventions as well as traditional and minimally invasive cardiac surgeries.
His current focus includes:
- Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVI) or minimally invasive surgical replacement;
- Transcatheter mitral valve repair (MitraClip, Pascal) or surgical repair;
- Transcatheter mitral stenosis valvuloplasty;
- Transcatheter mitral valve replacement (valve-in-ring, valve-in-valve);
- Transcatheter or surgical treatment of tricuspid valve insufficiency (TriClip, Pascal, TricValve, TMVR);
- Transcatheter treatment for bioprosthetic degeneration or failure of previous surgeries.
Since November 2023, he has been collaborating with Clinico San Rocco in Ome (BS), where he performs transcatheter mitral and tricuspid interventions in addition to cardiac surgeries.
Dr. Saccocci has authored over 60 scientific publications in international journals and, in 2023, achieved national qualification as an associate professor of Cardiac Surgery.
