Anastasiia ByvaltcevaThis year, Ospedale San Raffaele and Ospedale San Raffaele Turro, Policlinico San Donato and Ospedale Galeazzi - Sant'Ambrogio reaffirm their presence in the rankings of ‘World's Best Smart Hospitals 2025’ and ‘World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2025’ compiled by Newsweek in collaboration with the online research platform Statista.
The ranking identifies the best hospitals in the world by specialty and is compiled considering the evaluations of 40,000 experts, the accreditations and international certifications obtained by the hospitals, and the implementation of Patient Reported Outcome Measures, which assess patients' perceptions of their health and quality of life.
The specialties considered include cardiology; cardiac surgery; endocrinology; gastroenterology; neurology; neurosurgery; pediatrics; pulmonology; obstetrics and gynecology; oncology; orthopedics; and urology.
World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2025 Rankings
Here are the specialties for which the hospitals of the San Donato Group have been ranked among the best specialized hospitals in the world:
- Ospedale San Raffaele: cardiology; cardiac surgery; endocrinology; neurosurgery; oncology; neurology; orthopedics; pediatrics; gastroenterology; urology;
- Policlinico San Donato: cardiology; cardiac surgery;
- Ospedale Galeazzi - Sant'Ambrogio: orthopedics.
World’s Best Smart Hospitals 2025 Rankings
Among the top 350 smart hospitals in 28 countries worldwide, 21 are Italian. With its background in terms of digitalization, technology, and telemedicine, IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan ranks 64th.
The ranking is based on a global survey of healthcare professionals, as well as evaluations of the use of technology by the facilities and Joint Commission International accreditations. Factors considered include:
- the ability to utilize the most advanced technologies;
- the use of artificial intelligence;
- robotic surgery;
- telemedicine;
- the availability of digital services.
