Andrea Vignali
Biography
Professor Andrea Vignali works at the Colorectal Surgery Unit of IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele. He is also Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University Vita-Salute San Raffaele.
In 1989, he graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan, and subsequently obtained specialization in Emergency Surgery and First Aid at the same university in 1994. During his career, Professor Vignali carried out training periods abroad, in particular at the Department of Colorectal Surgery of the Arnau de Vilanova Hospital, and in 1995-1996, he obtained a fellowship in colorectal surgery at the Division of Colorectal Surgery of the Cleveland Clinic (Ohio-USA).
In his medical activity, he focuses on surgery of digestive system, preferring the minimally invasive approach as well as the traditional approach, mainly in the field of neoplastic and benign pathology of the colon and rectum, and in the field of surgical approach to inflammatory bowel diseas. Minimally invasive approach is also reserved for the surgical treatment of major diseases of interest to general surgery. In fact, Professor Vignali carries out day surgery: in this hospitalization regime he performs plastic cholecystectomy of the abdominal wall with laparoscopic access.
His bibliographic production includes over 270 scientific publications and numerous invited lectures at national and international conferences and collaborations with prestigious foreign institutions. His H-index is 35. Professor Vignali is a member of scientific societies such as the American Society of Colorectal Surgeons, the European Society of Colorectal Surgeons and the Italian Society of Colorectal Surgery.
