Claudio Clemente
Biography
Since 2011, Dr. Claudio Clemente has been the Head of the Pathological Anatomy and Cytodiagnostics Service at the Galeazzi - Sant'Ambrogio Hospital in Milan.
He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan in 1969 and specialized in anatomy, pathological histology and laboratory methods in Milan in 1971.
For a long time he was engaged in pathological anatomy and cytopathology at the National Institute for the Study and Treatment of Tumors in Milan since 1970, first as an assistant and then as deputy director of the Pathological Anatomy Service until 1996.
He has held many prestigious positions in scientific societies, both in Italy and abroad. Here are just a few of them: from 2013 to 2016, he was President of the Italian Society of Pathological Anatomy (SIAPeC IAP), and is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of SIAPeC Servizi; from 2005 to 2018, he was coordinator of the Italian Dermatopathology Research Group (GISD) SIAPeC IAP. He is a member of the group of the WHO Melanoma Program and the Buruli Ulcer program of the World Health Organization, a founding member and a member of the coordinating committee of the Italian Multidisciplinary Melanoma Group (GIPMe), was a member of the Commission for External Quality Control (VEQ) in the field of pathological anatomy and cytopathology of the Lombardy region.
Dr. Claudio Clemente is the author of more than 150 scientific articles in English, 24 in Italian, has published 4 books as a lead author, 25 chapters in other books and 11 CDs; is a member of the editorial Board of the rivista Pathologica, and since 2016 he has been collaborating in the histopathological diagnostic department through telepathology with the Ospedale di Tanguietà in Benin.
