Giorgia Mangili
Biography
Dr. Giorgia Mangili is the Head of the Gynecology Oncology Unit in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan, under the direction of the Professor Massimo Candiani.
In 1983, she graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan. In 1987, she completed specialization there in obstetrics and gynecology, and in 1991 - in oncology. In 2017, she passed state certification for the position of the Ordinary Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Mangili’s clinical practice focuses on gynecological oncology, with many years of experience in the treatment of gynecological tumors, tumors during pregnancy and rare tumors affecting the reproductive system, for which the San Raffaele Clinical Institute is a national center of excellence. In addition, she has been involved in fertility preservation of patients with tumors for many years, and is also the head of the Maternity and Tumors department.
Giorgia Mangili is the principal investigator in national and international Phase II and III trials conducted in accordance with the requirements of the GCP (Good Clinical Practice), and her research activities focus on innovative drugs for gynecological oncology and the treatment of rare tumors.
Today she is the author and co-author of chapters in books on gynecological oncology and about 150 articles published in national and international scientific journals. Her Hirsch index is 30. She is the member of many scientific societies, in particular, the European Society of Gynecological Oncology (ESGO), European Organization for the Treatment of Trophoblastic Disease (EOTTD), AIOM.
She is the member of the Board of Directors of the MITO GROUP Multicenter Italian Trials in Ovarian cancer and gynecologic malignancies.
Together with psychologist Valentina Di Mattei, she founded the Salute allo Specchio Onlus in 2013, which aims to support women undergoing cancer treatment at the San Raffale Clinical Institute from a psychological, aesthetic and psychomotor point of view.
