Giulia Berzero
Biography
Dr. Giulia Berzero is a neurologist at the Neurosurgery Unit of IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi-Sant'Ambrogio and IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele.
Dr. Berzero conducted her studies at the University of Pavia, where she earned a degree in Medicine and Surgery with full marks. She then specialized in Neurology at the same university, completing her training at the IRCCS Fondazione Mondino in Pavia, where she first approached the field of neuro-oncology, which later became the focus of her PhD in Neurosciences.
During her specialization and subsequent PhD, she spent over two years at the ICM Research Institute and the Neuro-Oncology Division of Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris, where she gained specific expertise in the molecular diagnosis and treatment of primary brain tumors.
Dr. Berzero's outpatient activities focus on the diagnosis and treatment of primary central nervous system tumors and the neurological complications that arise in patients with extracranial tumors. In addition to patient care, she is actively involved in translational research projects and several clinical studies, where she serves as the principal investigator or co-investigator.
For over ten years, Dr. Berzero has been dedicated to the management of patients with primary brain tumors or neurological complications resulting from oncological treatments for extracranial tumors.
Her clinical experience, gained both abroad and during her subsequent work at major IRCCS centers in Lombardy, reflects the solid expertise she has acquired in her area of focus.
She is co-author of over 70 indexed scientific publications, including articles in leading international journals such as Nature Medicine, Annals of Neurology, Neuro-Oncology, and Neurology. She is a member of the Brain Tumour Group of the EORTC (European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer) and the Neuro-Oncology Committee of the EAN (European Academy of Neurology) and regularly participates as a speaker in national and international congresses on neuro-oncology.
