Maria Doria
Biography
Dr. Maria Doria is the Head of the Nephrology and Dialysis Department at the IRCCS Policlinico San Donato in Milan.
She graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Rome "La Sapienza" in 1988, specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University "G. D'Annunzio" of Chieti in 1992, and obtained a specialization in Nephrology at the University of Milan-Bicocca in 2009.
For about 30 years, she has worked in the Nephrology and Dialysis Department at the IRCCS Policlinico San Donato, and since 2012, she has held the position of Head of the Department. During these years, she has conducted nursing training courses and served as a tutor for students in the Medicine and Surgery program at the University of Milan.
Throughout her career, Dr. Doria has focused on the treatment of both acute and chronic kidney diseases, with particular attention to extracorporeal purification treatments, both diffusive and convective. She has gained extensive experience in the application of dialysis techniques for critical patients in Intensive Care Units. She has also acquired surgical expertise in creating arteriovenous fistulas (AVF) and independently placing temporary and permanent venous catheters for hemodialysis.
In the field of scientific research, Dr. Doria has collaborated with the Polytechnic University of Milan and participated in multicenter studies on the control of intradialytic hypotension and arrhythmias in dialysis patients.
