Paolo Parise
Biography
Dr. Paolo Parise is Head of the Functional Department of Upper Digestive Tract Surgery in the Department of Gastroenterological Surgery of the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele under the supervision of Professor Riccardo Rosati.
After graduating from the University of Padua in Medicine and Surgery in 1997, Dr. Parise completed his specialization in general surgery in 2004 from the same institute. In the same year he spent a study period at S. Mark's Hospital in London.
Paolo Parise conducts clinical and operational activities in the fields of general, oncological and functional surgery of the esophagus, coloproctological surgery and obesity surgery, with a preference for the most modern methods of minimally invasive access. He has performed hundreds of operations as the first and second surgeon of esophageal, gastric, coloproctological surgery with minimally invasive and/or traditional access. In particular, he is an expert on oncological and functional esophageal-gastric pathologies.
In the field of research, he is mainly interested in functional and oncological gastroenterological pathologies and minimally invasive surgery. He is the author and co-author of 28 publications in industry scientific journals and 4 book chapters. His Hirsch Index is 9. He constantly participates as a speaker at national and international industry congresses. Since 2005 he has been a lecturer at the A. C. O. I. National School of Surgery of the Esophagus and is the Scientific Supervisor of the Upper Digestive Tract Surgery Courses for Italian and European Surgeons held at the Ospedale san Raffaele. From May 2018 to the present day, he is President and Founder of the Italian Society for the Study of Diseases of the Esophagus – S.I.S.M.E.
