Savino Altizio
Biography
Dr. Savino Altizio is a cardiologist at the Cardiac Intensive Care and Cardiac Surgery units of the Cardiovascular Anesthesia and Resuscitation Department at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele. He also collaborates with Casa di Cura La Madonnina.
He earned his degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bari in 2015 and specialized in Cardiovascular Diseases at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in 2020.
At Ospedale San Raffaele, Dr. Altizio's clinical work focuses on cardiac and cardiac surgery intensive care, managing major cardiac emergencies such as myocardial infarction and pulmonary embolism. He is also involved in advanced care pathways for cardiogenic shock and cardiac arrest, including the use of mechanical circulatory supports like IABP, Impella, ECMO, and LVAD.
Additionally, he manages the perioperative care of cardiac surgery patients, particularly those with valvular disease and coronary artery disease. He also handles outpatient care for major cardiovascular conditions, including hypertension, dyslipidemia, cardiac arrhythmias, ischemic heart disease, heart failure, and pericarditis, focusing on both prevention and treatment.
At Casa di Cura La Madonnina, Dr. Altizio is involved in preoperative cardiac evaluations for non-cardiac surgeries and oversees cardiovascular rehabilitation for patients who have undergone cardiac surgery.
He also serves as a Sports Cardiology Consultant for AC Milan Football Club.
In research, Dr. Altizio focuses on cardiogenic shock, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, and mechanical circulatory support. He is the co-author of 11 publications in scientific journals.
