Biography
Dr. Serenella Castelvecchio is the Head of the Laboratory of Echocardiography and Follow-up of the Cardiac Surgery-Adult Heart Area at IRCCS Policlinico San Donato in Milan.
She graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University Tor Vergata in Rome, where she specialized in Cardiology. Her activity focuses on the study of ischemic heart disease, post-infarction remodeling of the left ventricle and surgical treatment of ischemic heart failure. Her research activity is dedicated to these topics. In fact, she is in charge of the Research Line 1 "Surgical treatment of acquired heart disease and short and long term outcome".
Doctor Serenella Castelvecchio is an author of numerous publications in international peer-reviewed journals (Circulation, Journal of America College of Cardiology, The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Annals of Thoracic Surgery, Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine, Cardiovascular Research, European Heart Journal, European Journal of Heart Failure, New England Journal of Medicine) and other materials on Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery. She is an auditor for European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, PLOS ONE, Cardiovascular Diagnosis and Therapy, Circulation: Cardiovascular Imaging and Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine.
During her career, she has attended numerous research groups and scientific conferences as a speaker. She is a member of expert associations such as the Italian Society of Cardiology (SIC), the Italian Federation of Cardiology (FIC), the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), the Heart Failure Association and the Mayo Alumni Association.
