Alberto Briganti
Biography
Professor Alberto Briganti, Professor of Urology at the Vita-Salute University of San Raffaele, holds the position of Chief Assistant of the Department of Urology at the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele under the supervision of Professor Francesco Montorsi. He also holds the position of Deputy Director of the Urological Research Institute (URI) and Director of the Robotic Surgery Program of the Department of Urology.
In 2002, he received a diploma in Medicine and Surgery, and in 2007 he studied in the specialty of Urology at the University of Vita-Salute San Raffaele. He also received his PhD in Clinical and Experimental Biotechnology in Urology in 2016.
Professor Briganti is the author of more than 1100 scientific articles published in peer-reviewed international journals (the Hirsch Index 83), and a reviewer of numerous scientific journals in the field of urology and oncology.
Professor Briganti is a member of several international scientific societies, including the European Association of Urology (EAU) and the American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons (AAGUS). He is also a member of the EAU Scientific Committee. Since 2018, Prof. Briganti has been editor-in-chief of European Urology Oncology, one of the official journals of the European Urological Association dedicated entirely to the study of genitourinary tumors. He participated in the development of several interagency databases on the staging and treatment of prostate cancer, used to improve currently available prediction models.
Throughout his career, Professor Briganti has received prestigious grants to fund several research projects. In recognition of his academic career, in 2016 Briganti received the Matula Award, an annual award given by the European Association of Urology (EAU) to the most promising academic urologist under the age of 40.
