Andrea Blasio
Biography
Dr. Andrea Blasio is currently the Head of the Functional Unit for Minimally Invasive Surgical Techniques in the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the Ospedale San Raffaele Clinical Research Institute in Milan, headed by Professor Alessandro Castiglioni. In addition, he serves as the contact person for the quality and hospital planning unit.
After graduating in 1996 from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan, he specialized in cardiac surgery at the same university in 2003.
Dr. Blasio works as senior cardiac surgeon at the Cardiac Surgery Unit of the Ospedale San Raffaele Clinical Research Institute in Milan, and he is the Head of the Functional Unit for Minimally Invasive Surgical Techniques. As the first surgeon, he performed 1350 interventions, surgical procedures (planned and urgent) cover all areas of cardiac surgery in adults.
His main area of interest is mitral and aortic valve surgery using minimally invasive and video-assisted techniques. Dr. Blasio also has a particular interest in the prevention, detection and treatment of surgical site infections.
He is the author and co-author of 40 publications in industry scientific journals and chapters in books, his Hirsch index is 7. He constantly participates in national and international industry congresses.
