Angelo Carretta
Biography
Dr Angelo Carretta, thoracic surgeon, is the head of the Functional Unit of Thoracic Endoscopy at the Operating Unit of Thoracic Surgery of IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele directed by Professor Giampiero Negri and associate professor of thoracic surgery at Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele.
In 1988, he received his Degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Parma; in 1993, he specialized in thoracic surgery at the University of Milan, where he obtained his PhD in technological applications and experimental methodologies in 1997. He had some training periods abroad at the Thoracic Surgery Operating Units of Harvard University - Boston, USA, and the University of Vienna.
The clinical activity of Dr. Angelo Carretta concerns general thoracic surgery, mainly minimally invasive. In particular, he deals with pathologies of the trachea, emphysema surgery, pulmonary and mediastinal neoplasms and interventional bronchoscopy.
The research activity concerns in particular the pathologies of the airway, pulmonary neoplasms, the use of imaging methods in the diagnosis of pleural and pulmonary diseases and emphysema surgery. He is the author of 100 publications; his H-index is 21. He is a constant participant of national and international congresses in the sector.
