Maurilio Ponzoni
Biography
Professor Maurilio Ponzoni is the Director of the Pathology Unit at IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital and the Director of the Specialty School in Pathological Anatomy at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan.
In 1991, he graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan, where he also specialized in Pathological Anatomy and Histology in 1995.
In 1992, he worked as a Visiting Fellow at the Hematopathology Laboratory of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester (USA) and, in 1994, as a Research Fellow at the Molecular Pathology Laboratory of New York University (USA).
Professor Ponzoni specializes in diagnostic activities in pathological anatomy, particularly in the field of Hematopathology, at the Pathology Unit of San Raffaele Hospital.
Specifically, he focuses on diagnosing:
- Lymphomas,
- Myelomas,
- Leukemias,
- Myeloproliferative neoplasms,
- Myelodysplastic syndromes,
- Pathology related to bone marrow transplantation.
In the research field, he has conducted studies on lymphoid and myeloid hematological neoplasms, pathology related to bone marrow transplantation, and the study of the tumor microenvironment. He is a board member of several national and international scientific societies and currently serves as the President-elect of the European Society of Hematopathology (EH4HP).
He has authored nearly 400 publications in national and international journals.
